“Colleen Kong-Savage is truly a spectacular visiting artist with a treasure of visual information to share with students. Upon meeting Colleen our students were immediately engaged in her illustrations, interested in learning about her process, and excited to try out her method of collage. She brought a richness to the medium of collage through the openness in which she engaged students in discussion of her work and the organization of her hands-on lesson. My only complaint is that I want more time with her!”
—Amanda Capalbo, art teacher, PS276

I’d be delighted to visit your classroom or library for a 45-minute presentation, which includes a discussion on art in daily life, a reading from The Turtle Ship, a behind-the-scenes peek at my illustration process, and a collage art workshop. Alternatively, I can discuss the legendary turtle ship, touching on Korean history. Recommended for K-Gr 5.
I am also available to lead collage workshops for adults.
Fees for a library/school visit:
$250 for one 45-minute presentation
$400 for two 45-minute presentations
Please plan 10 minutes between sessions to clean and set up again. I also ask that there be no more than 2 hours of downtime between sessions.
Materials needed for collage art workshop:
Tape, scissors, glue or paste, markers or crayons, decorative papers
(or I can bring all materials for the day, additional $60 fee)
Nice to have for presentation:
Projector or big screen and laptop.
(Makes it easier for everyone to see pictures)

“Last month Colleen presented her artwork and illustration process to the families of our community as part of our NYPL KidsLIVE program. It was the biggest turnout we’ve ever had at our branch for an author/illustrator event! Despite the big crowd and mixed ages of attendees, Colleen was able to keep everyone engaged with the history behind The Turtle Ship and inspired to create their very own collage art.”

“It was a great experience working with Colleen. She was professional and personable in all aspects of our exchanges—from planning to implementation. Colleen delivered an engaging presentation on her work and personal journey to our students and families, and certainly sparked a lot of interest among our young and old audience!”
